If you have been asking “Is VIPKid Hiring?”, you are not alone. The company made major shifts in 2021 due to the Chinese ESL crackdown, also known as the double reduction policy.
VIPKid rebranded in early 2022 to the VIPKid Global Platform and moved its location from China to Singapore. They are also now called VIPTeacher.
Due to this, they have been able to continue marketing to a global market of students from countries around the world.
July 2024 VIPTeacher Hiring Update

How can I get hired with VIPKid / VIPTeacher in 2024?
As of July 2024, the application process seems to be much simpler than before.
Step 1: Apply to VIPKid here. If prompted for a CODE, use: TIM000003
They will ask you about your basic information, teaching experience, educational background, and work experience.
Step 2: Complete a live demo (mock class). This is a 25 minute session that will consist of a 10-minute online English lesson.
You will be able to choose between two demo lessons to teach for a low level and a higher level.
VIPKid / VIPTeacher Requirements (July 2024)
The requirements remain almost the same as before.
- Native English speaker eligible to work in the US or Canada (you do not have to live there. This is more to do with your passport and work eligibility).
VIPTeacher Hiring Exclusions:
VIPTeacher or VIPKid is not accepting applications from teachers who reside in or are from California, Connecticut, New York, Washington, and Washington D.C.
2. Bachelor’s Degree (This is not flexible, you must have a Bachelor’s degree)
3. With the demand for positions, a TESOL / TEFL and prior online teaching experiences will be prioritized. The TESOL below will be all you need for VIPKid.
Tips for Passing the Demo
- Have a good internet connection
- Use a headset or earbuds
- Do your demo in your intended teaching space with an educational background
- Have good lighting and position your camera so that your face is centered and clear.
- Use simple language and avoid “incidental language and complicated words”.
- Speak slowly and clearly
- Use TPR (total physical response) when introducing vocabulary
- Underline target words / sentences to help the student focus and keep track of what they are learning
- Try to follow the “I do, we do, you do” method for new content and activities. Introduce and model, do it together and then have the student do it independently.
- Use props to support the lesson objectives
- Ensure your student is speaking at least 50% of the time.

Can I still teach on VIPTeacher if I used to teach for VIPKid?
The answer is YES!
Be sure that you log in to their new VIPTeacher website and ensure that you still have an up-to-date contract. Essentially, everything from the China platform was migrated over to the new platform. If you have any questions, use their built in contact, to get in touch with them.
What is the new VIPTeacher platform like?
In many cases, it is extremely similar. If you used to teach for VIPKid, you will find many of the same features, the look and feel of the dashboard are the same but there are also many updates.
The VIPTeacher classroom is also extremely similar to the old VIPKid classroom with a few changes, but not too many worth noting. Everything you need is there with a clean, simple feel.
What does VIPTeacher Pay?
VIPTeacher pays a flat rate of $7 / 25 minute class.
They do still have their bonus scale which, depending on your tier, means that you can earn more for teaching more classes.
VIPTeacher Tips:
(for former VIPKid teachers)
- Make sure you have an updated contract. You can find this in your account details in the top right corner of the app / website.
- Go into your certification center and ensure you are certified for their new global courses. I found that I was not and had to certify for many certifications or Major Courses that I was formerly certified for on VIPKid.
- Familiarise yourself with the new classroom. Although it is very similar, there are a few changes and it would be wise to go in and take a look before you teach your first class.
- Update your profile video, photos and bio. A lot has changed if you are returning back to VIPTeacher. Give your profile a face lift!
- Don’t miss your 1st class. Turn on notifications on your phone and be ready!
